WASHINGTON, D.C/ MAY 2025-
Musician, cultural curator, and DMV native Drew Keys continues to champion and evolve the GoGo sound with the release of his newest project, ‘Unreleased Crank’—now streaming on YouTube and SoundCloud. This hard-hitting collection of unreleased GoGo joints captures the raw, infectious energy of D.C.’s homegrown genre, while blending it seamlessly with elements of R\&B, Hip Hop, and Afrobeats.
“These tracks represent that pure GoGo feel—but also show where we can take it when we bring in new vibes,” says Drew. “The response has been dope, and I’m proud to finally share what’s been sitting in the vault.”
The release follows a major cultural moment: the 3rd Annual GoGo Bounce Concert at Pie Shop DC on April 3rd. The sold-out event delivered high-octane performances, hometown energy, and a celebration of the DMV’s rich musical legacy. “Each year we take it to another level,” Drew says. “It’s not just about performing—it’s about giving the people a full-on experience and honoring the culture that raised us.”
Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, Drew’s sound is deeply rooted in the DMV. “Growing up here meant I was surrounded by GoGo—from backyard parties to legendary venues,” he reflects. “That raw energy became the foundation of my sound, and my mission is to elevate the genre while staying true to its roots.”
More than a performer, Drew is also a resilient entrepreneur and creative strategist, co-running Feel Bright Studios with his wife. The studio is quickly becoming a go-to hub for DMV artists seeking high-quality production, licensing opportunities, and brand development. “Watching artists grow through our studio is one of my biggest inspirations,” he adds. “We’re not just recording music—we’re building futures.”
Overcoming industry challenges—from learning the business side of music to creating his own platforms—has shaped Drew’s drive and determination. “Being talented isn’t enough,” he explains. “You have to understand your value, protect your work, and stay consistent.”
Drew’s creative journey is deeply personal. Inspired by early piano lessons, his family’s Caribbean record shop, and the gospel and GoGo sounds of his youth, he’s built a sound and legacy that fuses rhythm, culture, and authenticity. “My mom, my dad, my grandfather—those were my earliest influences,” he says. “That blend of church, GoGo, and reggae gave me a deep respect for music and storytelling.”
Upcoming projects include continued rollout of Unreleased Crank, new music and collaborations, expanded services through Feel Bright Studios, and more GoGo Bounce events and cultural showcases.
“Stay true to your roots, but don’t be afraid to evolve,” Drew says. “Whether you’re an artist or an entrepreneur, lead with consistency, professionalism, and purpose. You’re representing a culture—so move with intention.”
