The fashion industry is facing increasing scrutiny for its environmental and ethical impact. Zino NYC is set to offer a much-needed alternative that transcends industries.

As the brand’s pre-launch site says:

“The concept is: collaboration first, self-expression second. At Zino NYC, we know that fashion feeds into and grows out of the world that surrounds it. Much more than just an art form or a trending commodity, it should work and innovate in cohesion with the industries and societies around it.”

A Focus on Collaboration

Zino Haro, the fashion tech entrepreneur behind supply chain startup Uni-ke, is gearing up for the launch of collaboration-centric fashion brand Zino NYC this fall. Inspired by the dialogue of the United Nations CFL Network’s annual meeting earlier this year, Zino NYC believes that the fashion industry can only be truly relevant, impactful, and sustainable if it works together with other industries.

Haro is known for commitment to cross-industry collaboration, having a background in everything from cybersecurity to startups and nonprofits.

Zino NYC is Haro's way of putting money where the mouth is. The brand intends to facilitate collaboration and partnerships between a variety of other industries, including technology, art, and architecture, among others.

Why Collaboration is Key

Zino NYC's focus on cross-industry collaboration is a refreshing change of pace for the fashion industry. Despite setting trends every year, the industry is often criticized for being insular and resistant to change. However, Zino NYC is proving that collaboration can be a powerful force for innovation.

In the next two months, Zino Haro will be presenting initial pre-launch work with companies and organizations in the fields of architecture, interior design, and fast fashion. These collaborations will showcase the brand's commitment to cross-industry collaboration and its vision for a fashion landscape that more readily interacts with the society that surrounds it.

The brand's involvements could inspire other fashion brands to start collaborating more with companies from different industries. This could lead to anything from the development of new and innovative products to entire reorganization of existing methods.

For now, the company is open to requests for collaborations from the following industries: Architecture and interior design, fashion, art, and sustainable development organizations.

About Zino Haro

Zino Haro started working on her first full collection at the age of 19. With the help of the late musician Madison Park, the collection was showcased during September 2017 NYFW. This collection was inspired by designers like Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake and explored the use of origami in fabric.

Shortly after, Zino joined former Columbia University classmate Christian Cruz Godoy to work on fashion tech startup Uni-ke, at the time focusing on pop-ups and community creation for designers. After graduating from Columbia in 2020, Zino joined as co-founder in 2021 and led the team to their first designer collective collection showcase in September 2021 NYFW. That same year, a Zino Haro design was worn at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2022, she created her first digital fashion collection for Digital Fashion Week New York using light as an impossible material in construction.
