How have you overcome struggles to be where you are now?
I’ve faced my fair share of challenges. One instance that stands out vividly showcases my determination in the face of adversity. There are times when I have to juggle multiple roles and responsibilities, which is a common scenario for artists today. Balancing these various tasks often led to moments of self-doubt, questioning if I was effectively managing everything.
From this experience, I learned that it’s more productive to fully engage in my work, trust my instincts, and apply my skills rather than fixating on all the things I have to do.. This approach allows me to prioritize effectively and tackle everything head-on.Certainly, there were moments of uncertainty, but what I took away from the experience was the power of self-trust and unwavering determination. Embracing the ‘You can do it’ mindset became my guiding principle. It means acknowledging that doubt is a natural part of any journey, but it doesn’t define the ultimate outcome. Looking back, this ongoing experience marked a significant turning point for me. It reinforced the importance of relying on my instincts and giving my all to the task at hand. It showed me that, even while wearing multiple hats and facing doubt, I have the capacity to persevere by staying focused, trusting my intuition, and dedicating myself wholeheartedly. This lesson continues to guide me through challenges and inspire me in navigating the ever-changing landscape of the artistic world.
As a business owner, what are some obstacles you have had to overcome to get where you are at?
One of the key challenges I faced was the decision to invest heavily in my own career and not strictly adhering to a rigid budget. While budgeting is crucial for any business, there were times when I recognized the need to allocate resources towards personal development, specialized training, and skill acquisition. This approach requires a delicate balance, as it meant deviating from conventional financial models to ensure my long-term growth and success. By prioritizing my own professional development, I was able to gain a competitive edge in my industry and develop a unique skill set that set me apart from competitors. This investment in myself ultimately proved to be a pivotal factor in driving the success of my business. It enabled me to innovate, adapt to changing market dynamics, and lead my team effectively. Additionally, this approach required a high level of discipline and strategic thinking. It was crucial to assess each investment in my career with a long-term perspective, weighing the potential returns against short-term financial constraints. This sometimes meant making sacrifices in other areas of the business to allocate resources towards personal development. Overcoming this obstacle taught me the importance of strategic decision-making and the value of continuously investing in oneself. While it may have initially seemed unconventional, it ultimately proved to be a key driver of my success as a business owner. It reinforced the idea that sometimes, taking calculated risks and thinking outside the traditional budgetary framework can lead to exponential growth and achievement.

As she wraps up the conversation, she reflects on the many people who have had an impact on her life. “The most influential people in my life have undoubtedly been God, my mama, my Godmom, and my grandparents. Their unwavering belief in my musical journey has been the cornerstone of my success. Despite my mom being deaf, her faith in me is resoundingly strong. She may not hear my music, but her support transcends sound, and I feel it deep within my soul. She’s my number one champion, always sending prayers my way and checking in to make sure I’m taking care of myself. My grandparents have been a pillar of support, providing me with invaluable resources and guidance throughout my journey. Even though my papa didn’t fully experience my singing until I asked him how I sounded on Gladys Knight’s ‘Midnight Train to Georgia,’ he became my biggest advocate in pursuing auditions and honing my craft. Their unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength. Above all, God has been my truest anchor. In moments of doubt or uncertainty, I’ve always found solace in prayer. It’s a reminder that no matter the challenges I face, there’s a higher power looking out for me. With the love and support of these incredible individuals, I’ve been able to navigate the highs and lows of my musical career. They’ve provided me with the encouragement, resources, and faith needed to pursue my passion with unwavering determination. It’s crucial never to allow external voices to diminish your confidence. Remember, self-love lays the foundation for the most meaningful connections and experiences in life.”
