Akintunde Akinwumi, also known as ‘Akin’ is a graphic design artist, and filmmaker from the Dallas, Texas area, with influences from Dublin, his work ethic has remained consistent. The diverse business owner has dedication and his skills to his craft has remained consistent and unique since the beginning.
Akin has focused on never stopping working and always having content to strive for. He has lots of upcoming work to look out for. “Right now Im building my portfolio for my website. The main projects I'm working on are a promo video for an escape room, my shirts which will be dropping soon , three music videos, and a short film. I've been looking for ways to stand out from the rest of the music video scene and I think I finally found a way to do it. I don't want to give away too much but it's going to be called 370z.” With the right intentions ahead, the unique business owner is hardworking with his work, and has qualities of being a creative, ambitious, and loyal person. Akin stays positive.
Akin remains honest on his journey and remains heavily influenced by motivating factors. He knows where his passion starts from and speaks more on his inspirations that keep him consistent. “I have overcome struggles by sharing rooms, stealing food and skipping school. I know what it is like to struggle, to be at the very bottom and have nothing, so with that being said I am nothing but motivated to give not only me but my family a better life.” Akin stays consistent and has been seen at lots of shows doing what he loves.
Where are you from?
I’m from Nigeria but I was born and raised in Ireland and I came to the U.S. when I turned seven.
Give three qualities that describe you:
Hardworking, I believe myself to be hardworking because I spend every moment of my free time working on creating/ building the legacy and brand that I’ve started. Creative, I am creative because I make my imagination come to life through the work/ art that I create. Lastly, hard headed. I am hard headed because in spite of whatever and or whoever tries to get in my way and stop me from my goal it will do nothing but motivate me more.
What is inspiring you right now consistently to work on your endeavors?
Right now it has to be DJ Akademiks, I've been watching him since I was a freshman. We have similar backgrounds, so watching his success shows me I can make it too. Another inspiration is the filmmakers in the bronx. They are really creative and push me to make better videos.
As a business owner, what are some obstacles you have had to overcome to get where you are at?
Time management is definitely a big one. I've always been a bit of a procrastinator, so it was hard learning how to manage my time well. At one point I was setting alarms daily so I would be able to complete projects on time.
Who were the most influential people in your life?
My mom. I love my mom to death. I Don't think I could ever repay her for the amount of love she's given to me. No matter how bad things got, she would always do what she had to do to make sure my siblings and I were provided for. Even if I can never repay her for what she has done for us, I'm definitely going to try.
Akin has his sights set on the right goals and sees only growth for the upcoming future, and leaves some advice for others to take back. “When I'm creating visuals I don't feel like I'm working because I love what I do. With the help of the internet, there are the ways to monetize your passion if you're willing to put time and effort into it.”
Now, with his listeners, he is motivated by the thought of making a difference not just in this world but when he hits the stage to perform and in the studio working hard no matter where he is. His upcoming projects are only expanding. His self motivation is an inspiration for others, and he stays steadfast on his journey.
