Mars G, sometimes referred to by the stage names ‘The Cure, Sir Frankenstein, Dr. Frankenstein, Young Frankenstein, and Martian G. Frankenstein.’ Mars G is a musical artist from Columbus, Mississippi, with ties from Memphis, Tennessee as well. Mars G is ascending the social and music industry ladder. The up-and-coming artist has already experimented with a wide variety of sounds and has high hopes for the work he produces. His musical abilities contribute to the success of his endeavors. Known as passionate, ambitious, and creative in his work, the artist, Mars G, comes from humble beginnings and has a passion for his long term work. He has major work coming up as an artist. “Right now, I have to turn in my parts to this dope collective project with my team, BMG. Making content for my mixtape I recently dropped. I’m collaborating with this dope producer. I have so many ideas I want to gift to the world. I just dropped my latest project ‘D.M.W.’ I’m promoting that everywhere and anyway I can. I’m a part of a collective, BMG. We have a collective mixtape coming soon. I’m going to be featured on some other projects with other artists and producers. Be on the lookout for more Martian!” Mars G is now focused on maintaining his position as the greatest in his community so that he may expand upon his already solid base with his most recent effort. From a large crowd of artists, he stands out.
Despite Mars G’s dedication to honing his skill to the greatest standard, his struggles have driven him to strive for even greater success in his career. “By being consistent and persistent with my craft. Everyday life on top of this hip hop thing can get heavy on the mind at times. Setbacks that you can’t control. I just put my head down and stay focused on what I want, which is to show my musical talent to the world. I try not to sweat the little things. Also some obstacles I had to overcome is lack of resources. We have to use what we have at SurroundSound. That may not read like a positive, however it made us better.” He stays consistent and looks only ahead.
Where are you from?
Mars. No let me stop joking. Memphissippi, well that’s what I call it. I was born in a small town of Columbus, Ms. I moved to Memphis, Tennessee in the summer leading to my 3rd grade school year. Then eventually moved back down to Mississippi. Those two places really shaped me to be the artist you guys love today.
What is inspiring you right now consistently to work on your endeavors?
My team. It feels good to be around a group of individuals who all want to achieve something. Also, The feedback. All the feedback mane, I’ve been doing this since forever but not to this level. So, all the positive feedback makes me proud of my project and my work. I keep going because people want to hear my music as much as I want to.
Who were the most influential people in your life?
My family. Each member of my immediate family influenced me in some way. From their taste in music to their personalities. Dick Gregory, Micheal Jackson, Malcom X, Wu tang, Pimp C, Socrates, and lil Wayne. I can go all day. These are just off the top.
Mars G ends the interview with a piece of advice that others can take back from the work he is doing. He knows his struggles have pushed him to be the person he is. “Be as creative as you want. Also, to be original. I’m a hip hop artist and people say everyone raps like this or that. I rap like me. The best advice you guys should take away from my project D.M.W. Is to be you and enjoy being you.” Mars G remains focused on his goals and has quality work every time he creates. An artist worth looking at.
